28 August – What’s there in Helsingborg for the International Community?

– EVENT FULLY BOOKED –

International Citizen Hub Lund is on the road to Helsingborg. This trip will give you an overview of what one of our neighboring cities to the north has got to offer the international community.

We start off the tour with a visit to Helsingborg municipality’s Business and Tourism office, where we will have a short “fika” before Eva-Lotta Bergström will introduce you to Helsingborg municipality. As a growing city and municipality, Helsingborg is attracting more and more expats; therefore, developing new and exciting ways to create natural meeting places for locals and internationals.

After that we will meet Sally Russel and Jenny Weislander Chandler, the founders of Helsingborg International Connections (HIC). Much like International Citizen Hub Lund, HIC organizes free events for internationals, making it a natural meeting place for people who are new to Sweden and Helsingborg.

After that we will walk to a place called Pixlapiren for a guided tour. Please note that this is an outdoors tour, so make sure to check the weather and dress accordingly! Pixlapiren is a place where any private person wishing to let their creativity bloom is delegated a smaller area where they can test their ideas. Anything from sculptures to skate parks can be found in this area.

Our last stop will be at Mindpark, a two minute walk away from Pixapiren. Mindpark is a co-working and event space where small and large businesses co-exist with entrepreneurs, creators and students. Helene Tigerström will talk more about this diverse place and how it is a natural environment to network for Swedes, internationals, entrepreneurs as well as job-seekers, etc. We will also meet one of many small organizations at Mindpark called Integratörerna Helsingborg. Calle Norling, a representative from Integratörerna, will talk more about the different projects they run to combine integration, networking and entrepreneurship.

After this you are free to explore the town on your own. A personal tip is to try out a typical thing to do in Helsingborg, namely “tura”; jump on the ferry between Helsingborg and Helsingör and go back and forth a couple of times without getting off in Denmark.

28 February – Helsingborg Business Community – Swedish Workplace Culture

The International Citizen Hub will be joining Helsingborg Business Community’s for their last event before they take a break. They have invited none other than BBi Communication, who will have a seminar on inter-cultural workplace training. This seminar is in short relevant for anyone interested in working in Sweden. We will of course also be there to shortly present our services to internationals in the Helsingborg region.

Please read the event description by Helsingborg Business Community below:

Are you working or are you thinking of working here in Sweden? In that case, this is an event you simply do not want to miss!

We have invited Christina Rundcrantz from BBi Communication who will have a 50 minute seminar on the do’s and don’t’s in Swedish workplace culture. When you start a new job most people want to make a professoinal appearance, and to do so it is crusial to understand how ”professional manners” are viewed differently in different cultures. So what is the Swedish code of conduct? What are the do’s and don’t’s? This and much more will be discussed in our short lecture!

We will also be joined by International Citizen Hub Lund who are working to help highly educated internationals to find their place in Swedish society. Since Helsingborg Business Community is taking a break, the International Citizen Hub is a great organization to turn to for help.
