28 February – International Private Law and How it Affects Expats

Different countries have different rules regarding your private life, work, studies and other aspects of your stay in a new country – for example concerning matters of marriage, divorce, custody, inheritance, labor law, and residence. For expats, it is important to understand which country’s law is applicable for settling such matters. This often requires complicated assessments that should be looked at by an expert. At this event you will learn about the types of information important to know regarding matters that might require legal help while living in Sweden.

Tove Sjövall is an Attorney at Law and partner at Wesslau Söderqvist Advokatbyrå, a law firm with offices in Malmö, Helsingborg, Växjö, Borås, Jönköping and Stockholm. She has years of experience in both international and cross-border matters. She previously lived in Brussels and worked there representing both a Swedish law firm and a local Belgian law firm. Tove Sjövall graduated with a law degree from Lund University and is a member of the Swedish Bar Association.
