The Cathedral of Lund is more than a 1000 year old Romanesque style cathedral. When the cathedral was built, Skåne belonged to Denmark and Protestantism had not yet developed from Catholicism. The Cathedral has been the center of Lund throughout the centuries and today the cathedral still attracts over 700,000 visitors each year form near and far. This October, Pope Franciskus will be honoring Lund and the Cathedral in recognition of the 500 year anniversary of the Reformation.
Come and listen to the history of this impressive institution, and how it has made an impact not only on the City of Lund, but also the importance it has played to Christianity, politics and culture in the region.
We will meet in the visitor center of the Cathedral (Domkyrkoforum) and then continue into the Cathedral and end the tour when the 500 year old astronomical clock plays us a pslam. We will finish off the day with a short walk to Ekska huset for a light “fika” and mingle.
Wednesday 28 September 13:45-16:00
