The PhD conferment ceremony at Lund University usually takes place on the last Friday in May. This is one of the highlights of the university’s cultural events and we at Lund International Citizen Hub thought it would be of interest to see this exciting celebration.
Those who have obtained a PhD degree during the previous academic year are invited to participate in the annual conferment ceremony.
As well as celebrating the most recent PhD graduates, the ceremony is also when we honor researchers from other universities and people with honorary doctorates, as well as bestowing the title of jubilee doctor on those who got their PhD degree 50 years ago.
We will start with a brief presentation about the PhD conferment ceremony. Thereafter, we will walk together to the main university building to watch the when the march starts from the building towards the Cathedral where the actual ceremony takes place.
We will continue our walk to Old Bishop’s House ”Biskopshuset” where ”kransflickorna” will embark on the horse carriage which will take them to the Cathedral.
Light refreshments will be served along the way as we enjoy the festivities.
Friday 27 May 11:30-14:00
We look forward to receiving your registration no later than 25 May.
